Rain? Ride?

06May09

Waiting for the rain…. but none really has come. Hopefully it’ll blow past for the Wednesday ride tonight.

TONIGHT: Friday… 7:30 Legoland.
TOMORROW: 16th Annual Spring National Ride and Show n Shine in Richmond. Information here.

Go here. Oldschool at its best.

Please. If you like your bike!

OK, it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been on… I’ve been busy!

Anyway, just thought I’d let you know about some things going on this weekend.

1. Friday, tonight!:
8:30 at the Stanley Park Roundabout (near lost lagoon), Last Friday of the month cruiser bike ride. NOT affiliated with Critical Mass. Bring your good attitudes and your lights.

2. Saturday (tomorrow):
Day ride with Bryn… or contact me at 778 881 8361 and I’ll tell you where we are. Going out with my cousin too… probably just going to ride around the ‘hoods in kits or somewhere.

3. 4:30 Saturday:
Rock Lobster Bike Ride. Charles’ birthday ride! Same place, roundabout, 4:30.

4. Saturday Vintage ONLY ride (invitation only):
Pats pub- later in the eve.

5. Sunday… ? who knows what’ll happen.

Pics to come for all of these rides after the fact!

All the way to Lynn Valley! Ouch! We weren’t prepared for that one! I had a great time, though- a bit sore today but good nonetheless. It looked like it was going to rain, but nope! Rode across the Lions gate, met up with Charles, and then all the way up to Danu’s bike garage (lots of bikes for sale!), then alllllll the way up to Danu’s place where Bryn and I rode all the way down again to the Seabus. Long distance and short time frame. Yikes.

This particular event starts at Stanley Park Roundabout at 8:30 tomorrow (Friday) and most likely goes around the seawall. I recommend dressing warm, and bring lights!

More information about this event here.

See you there!

** Note! This is different from the critical mass ride. I’m not completely fond of those rides. I’d rather just have fun without the political aspect. That’s just me, for another story, another day.

It was a good weekend on the bike! I took my ’35 Hawthorne out, met up with Bryn and Amber and rode around and around (okay, more like, back and forth) along the seawall from Science world, rocky point, and points towards the park.

Bryn and I eventually met up with Dylan – that’s right about the time I had to jet home, but all in all it was a great Saturday.

Heather and I on Sunday got out too- we went to Art Knapps‘ looking for plants, then we did a one-timer all the way around the seawall, only stopping at Siwash for a second, and then back towards Denman where we stopped in at a few shops and for a hot toddy at the Bayside Lounge on Davie and Denman. We eventually got a few groceries at Safeway’s and rode uphill to our place.

What to wear on a bicycle

It’s very very good. Vancouver MEC wearers take notice.
